Oscar Hubert Amerson, Jr.
July 23, 1942 - April 26, 2012
Oscar H. "Billy" Amerson, Jr., 69, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness with his wife and son by his side. He was born July 23, 1941 in Swainsboro, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar H. Amerson, Sr. Billy loved his wife and son and enjoyed working in his yard/garden and spending time with family and friends. He attended Chatham County Public Schools and studied horticulture at Callaway Gardens in Warm Springs, Georgia. He was retired from the City of Savannah after 25 years. He was a member of Thunderbolt Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Morris Amerson, son, William Newman Amerson, mother, Susie Amerson Bunger, brothers, Don Amerson Judy and Roger Amerson DiAnne, sisters-in-law, Lois Chafin Dave and Elizabeth Morris, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff of Riverview Nursing Facility and Dr. Corse for their care and attention.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Reverend Marshall Ray.
